CD recorder won`t power up?

I have a Marantz DR 4050 CD recorder which won`t turn on. I have checked the plug, fuse and lead also checked the fuse inside the recorder,all ok. Normally when plugged in the standby light comes on stay`s on till the machine is turned on via the on/off button but the standby light is off. I did notice it was somewhat lazy turning on a couple of times before it stopped altogether.I do hope the information is helpful and that someone has the answer.
