bernina matic electronic sewing machine pedal/lead?

My pedal on my sewing machine is very unpredictable I have used it today, and it just wouldn't start, an odd spurt here and there. Not sure if it is the pedal or lead.

Please help pedal type 289

Quite likely to be the carbons inside the foot control but you need it checked at a dealer.
