bernina 807 sewing machine motor doesnt work?

I have just acquired a bernina 807 sewing machine it is in the case with a few feet attachments but no foot pedal or lead or instructions I know I could probably get these offline but a friend hashad alook at the machine and says the brushes in the motor are worn down Would this mean i would need another motor or could it be repaired with new brushes? I am really more worried now about the motor
