Why won't my 1999 XL 760 not start?

I have a 1999 XL 760 that will not start. I have put a new battery in it, Checked leads to the starter, and still there is no power. I suspect the stator is the issue because I have checked just about everything else out. Can the stator be the problem for having absolutely no spark or power at all? I have checked all the wires and pulled the CD apart but I still see no issues.

there is a black box in the engine compartment with a cap that unscrews its got a main power fuse in it be very careful becuase you can pull one end of the wire out and the other end might fall inside the box and then you will have to tear the whole box apart to fix it
