kenwood dpx 501u display fault?

Help! I've got a kenwood dpx 501u, everything seems to be working fine apart from the display, all the functions seem to be working all the lights are coming on around the display and sound is coming out the speakers..... just i'm not able to see what volume i'm at or what input i'm using. can anybody tell me how to fix my problem?
