Mend Simpson Delta 402 Washing Machine Agitator Repair

How to fix Simpson Delta 402 washing machine?

My Simpson machine has begun sucking clothes to the agitator making the machine jam and stop. Once the cloths are rearranged it works fine until clothes stick to agitator again. The agitator has about 1cm play up and down but the bolt holding it is tight and cannot be moved. Any suggestions?

Make sure the agitator is going both ways when in the wash cycle and when on spin make sure the steel bowl rotates and not just the agitator spinning around. Both of these faults will wrap clothes around the agitator.
