Mend Singer 457 Sewing Machine Needle Hook Timing

singer model 457 needle hook timing?

Replaced the top plastic gear with no trouble. Having a problem locating the rotary hook point. There is a backwards "T" on the hook. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with timing. They ask for the hook point to be facing the back of the machine,thought I had it right, everything works fine except it is not making a stitch.
