How can i change the way a program chooses which browser to open?

I know quite a bit about computers but I do not know how to fix this problem. I have a game that I play that when you start it, a window pops up that says, "Internet Explorer Script Error". Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? yes or no. I would like to either get rid of this message or direct this to open the default browser with is Firefox. I did set the internet explorer options to not display notifications about every script error, but this did not change anything. My computers are custom built, with Windows xp pro 64bit. Intel Core 2 duo. I still use Internet Explorer 6.0.3790 and do not want to upgrade to version 7. I would rather use Firefox, but that isn't always possible.

Tried that and everything the link suggests still same problem, perhaps it is just poorly written code by the program initiating the error?

You probably have script debugging enabled, to disable:

Start Internet Explorer
Click Tools
Click Internet options
Select the Advanced tab
put check mark next to "disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)
put check mark next to "disable script debugging (Other)
click OK
restart Internet Explorer

Programs are generally set to open you default browser as defined by Windows. easiest way to set Firefox as default browser is to:
Open Firefox
click Tools
Options
Advanced
click Check Now

Note the script errors may continue in programs even if you use Firefox as the browser, disable script debugging in Internet Explorer anyway (this is generally the recommended default setting anyway)
