I dont know if this will help but I have had the same problem with this washer. Sometimes the spin cycle speed button was at the 12 oclock position, ie off, I dont know why, I never switch it off so I never thought of checking it.
Then there were the times it didnt spin, the spin cycle speed button was definately set to 1600 and the clothes were sopping. That was usually soon after I had washed something that shed mightily or was heavy and so I took off the bottom plate at the front (just pull towards you) and behind it on the left is a circular plug or cap(like on a car fuel tank). I unscrewed this (phillips head) and turned it... beware...shed loads of water comes out now, have a shallow bowl or deep plate or two ready to catch the water, you can control the flow of water by how much you turn the cap. pull the whole thing out, this is the lint trap, it should be full of wet fluff, pennies etc, clean it and put it back in and screw down and you should spin again. This has happened to me loads of times. Sometimes I have had to take the heavy wet clothes out and spin them one at a time for that load and then everything returns to normal. We have abused our washer mightily, dropped it, blown it up a bit, and many times washed huge unsuitable items, and although it certainly makes more noise than it used to it still works fantastic, Im amazed at this washer, lesser models would have keeled over years ago.
