I have a Kenmore model # 158.12260 HELP?

I have a problem with the thread breaking every time when I am attempting to sew 4 thicknesses of polyester/cotton material. I have no manual and don't know this machine at all. Can't figure how to do much of any trouble shooting. HELP

Hello Jo,
Sewing 4 thicknesses you may need to lower the top tension one number, try it and see, if the machine sews okay on two layers that will be the problem.
