Mend Sony DCR-DVD202E Lens Camera

How can I fix the lens cover on my video camera?

I have a Sony Handicam video camera Model DCR-DVD202E but the automatic lens covers do not open when the camera is switched on. I can move them by hand but they shut together again.

Can this problem be fixed?
