Mend Kenmore 90 Series Washer

How do you take the top of a Kenmore 90 Series Washer?

The top of my Kenmore 90 Series washer is rusted, so i bought a new one. I thought the lid would be easy to take off like the 90 Series dryer, but it's proven a little more difficult.

Is there any "trick" besides taking everything out and unscrewing the lid from the body/frame?
