Mend Ford E-Series Transit Starts Fine

smokey transit 1999?

strange one engine starts and idles fine but smokes badly i mean you cant see behind you untill its warmed up then its fine ive checked the valve gear checked clearances loose bits etc checked breathers engine does breath a little but no more than others any ideas cheers

If its white smoke and a cold day when starting it will probably be glow plugs. The diesel is cold and won't burn up properly so it kicks out white smoke. Could also be injectors leaking (dribbling) fuel into cylinders. Ours did that and it was down to plugs not heating up enough. £34.99 later problem solved. Hope this helps you.
