I have an old golf 1400 1997. can any one tell me what is the sequence on the distributor cap, as I took off the old leads forgetting to follow the sequence.
rough guide put leads on according to length .firing order should be 1342..but check direction of rotor arm in distributor first

the firing order is 1342. no1 being the longest lead is the cylinder nearest to drivers side of the car, place the leads in the distributor as a clock face
no 1 at 6 oclock
no 3 at 3 oclock
no 4 at 12 oclock
no 2 at 9 oclock
