Mend Problem Halogen Bulbs

Problem with 12v halogen bulbs?

I have recently moved into one of the new Strata apartments. We have a problem with the 2No halogen bulbs underneath the kitchen cabinets, neither of them will come on when i have turned the switch on, i have tried changing bulbs etc and believe it could be a problem with the transformer which i found on top of the cabinets (small grey box, connected to a circular black box?), would i need to replace this transformer or would it be another issue?

definitely the transformer, these 12v ones never last long.

remove transformer and put it in the freezer over night then reconnect and it see what happens.

make sure its dry first of course.

Replacing the transformer is well easy and you can get a suitable wattage replacement one from screwfix direct £5.77 , and will take 10 mins to fit this dual replacement max 3 lamps

May well be the trasnsformer - If in UK, B&Q will sell you a replacement - need to add up the total wattage of the lamps and buy a transformer that can deliver more watts else it may well fail quite soon.

I have just thrown out four of these 20W Halogens and installed 10w small neon strip lights at £10 each - much brighter and less hassle - I expect a payback time of about 18 months.
