halogen lights fitted approx a year ago to my lounge.
6 lights each with its own transformer.5 of the lights will not come on now and i assumed the bulbs had gone.
I bought replacements but these wont work. They are exactly the same bulbs as were previously used. Is there a problem with the transformers and if so why?
Will they need to be replaced and what is their lifespan?
I don't know if there's a problem with the transformer.
If there is they have a limited lifespan because they can deteriorate over time.
If there is a problem with the transformers then they will need to be replaced.
Their lifespan depends on how much they are used and their overall quality - you get what you pay for.
Had they all stopped working at the same time and if they are all wired in a radial I would have suggested there is a break in the circuit and I would check for a voltage at the last light on the circuit then work back towards the ones that work, but you seem to think the transformers are all at fault.
