Sounds like a dead hard drive - your music will be lost, but you can buy a new hard drive for it. Take out the two screws holding the bottom of the back cover. These can be tight so use the right size screwdriver and be careful not to strip them out. Then remove the 4 somewhat larger screws under the *front* cover. Remove the back cover and gently work out the top end of the hard drive that is exposed. The drive slides up to disengage from the connector on its bottom, which is firmly mounted to the circuit board behind the drive. A computer store should be able to sell you a similar drive - any size up to (and maybe more than) 60GB should work. Once you put everything back together, I think you hold reset or some such to get to a menu where you can format the drive - I think there is more on the web about this. Be sure not to open up the player on a very dry day, as you may zap it with static electricity.
