Mend Briggs & Stratton Model

factory carb settings?

I have a model 190432 Briggs and Stratton type 2707-01 code 84050410. I need to know the factory pre-set carb setting and how to adjust i.e. from close....out 1 & 1/2 turns and a view of the 3 set screws would be most helpful. I have tried the factory site and it was useless unless u want buy a new motor (i am web novice but a fair shade tree). My daughter brought me here because she says you all know where to find answers(duh dad... Please if you can HELP ME). I know she's an older motor but she ran like she came off the showroom floor until my dumbass put some questionable gas in her. I drained the fuel and replaced the plug( I even drained the bowl and thats when she had showed me her teeth...lol). I made adjustments to the gov and carb to try to get her to run smoother but to tell you the truth and i feel a bit embarassed i never turned the drain valve in(2 find out what she was set at) and that started my nightmare help please.I have not had any major mechanical issues and do regular routine maintenance on her every 6 month. I usually would just look at my manual but i don't have one for this unit.

if there are adjustments on the carb, screw them all the way in then back out 1/4 of a turn at a time until it starts running fast then make sure the filter is clean first.

For info, the illustrated parts list is at http://www.briggsandstratton.com/pdf/illustrated_parts_list/100/MS8142.pdf

This is indeed an old machine - 1984 to be exact.

As a starting point, 1.5 turns out from fully home will allow the engine to be started. To adjust, set speed to full, then adjust high speed screw SLOWLY in both directions to establish the point at which the engine starts to run rough. Set the screw to the mid-point between these two positions. Set the speed to slow, and repeat with the slow speed screw.

Check engine will accelerate smoothly from slow to fast. If it misses when accelerating, back out the slow screw 45 degrees and re-test. The screws may need adjusting slightly, and they are inter-dependant to a small extent.

Adjust the idle stop for a reliable idle. Don't aim too low - the carb (or the engine) is not designed for slow running.
