Hoover PE235 problem?

I have a hoover PE235 Washing Machine.
On program 2,3 and 4 when it comes to the rinse cycle it dosn't always fill/take the fabric softener, but if you turn the machine off and then back on and put it to an end of a spin cycle and then turn it off and on and then put it back to program 4 , it works fine until the next time. Can any one shead any light on the problem ?
