You don't say what engine is in it,go to the library or buy a Haynes manual see how complicated it is just finding your engine,as a general rule the end with the spring on goes to the engine/inlet side,the other end,looks like a bridge goes to the outlet side,why don't you just replace the new one the same way round that you took the old one out?
