Why is my renault clio smoking under the bonnet?

My mark 2 renault clio has been smoking under the bonnet. I noticed this and pulled over, it appears to be coming from the back of the engine on the drivers side. I have had a few other problems recently like, thermostat replaced and a leak in the radiator, which was solved with some rad seal. The temperature is normal and the car is generally working ok. The only other problem is the ignition, which when not pulled back sufficiantly makes a noise and the radio and heater dont come on, so wondering if its electrical. Please help
