Mend Peugeot 205 Fuel Pump Spark Plugs Engine

engine will not start?

i have a peugeot 205 1.4 petrol 1991 model,the car was sitting idle for two years i have carried out a mini service (OIL,OIL FILTER,AIR FILTER,SPARK-PLUGS) the engine 'cranks but will only fire up for a couple of seconds.
It also seems to be starved of fuel if the problem is the fuel pump is this something i could attempt myself?

Hi Mike, Im having very similar problems myself now, and have begun stripping the injector system down, (have tested the fuel pump). Id be interested to know if you found out what was wrong or not?
As yet, my problem seems to be with the electrics.

If the vehicle has been stood for 2 years the petrol will have gone stale hard to belive i know but it does so use fresh fuel also try new petrol inline filter if it has one also try new fuel pump its easy to fit

Try a gallon of petrol and a match and stand well back.
It will be money well spent, the more peugeots off the road the better.
