Hotpoint WD420 flashing lights?

Out Hotpoint WD420 washer dryer has stopped working. It is 2 years old. The fault is that when starting the machine it seems OK at first with water going into the machine but does not seem to go into the drum (sounds like it also starts pumping water out at the same time). After about 30 seconds the machine changes and the on/off light starts flashing rapidly and lights 3 (Rinse Hold) and 4 ( Time Saver) flash also but not as fast as the on/off. The only way to stop this is to switch off at the plug. No matter what program it is on the same thing happens.
