Mend Heating Radiators Bar

How can I fix my central Heating some radiators are cold?

All the radiators upstairs, bar one, are stone cold. The radiators downstairs are working fine.

Thanks for your help. Bleeding them wasn't doing much I'm afraid. I was told to turn them all off downstairs and they would eventually be "Blown out" upstairs. I did this and gradually one by one they came on. As each one started to work I would turn it off and the next one along the line would start to work after a while.

Many Thanks.

Hi

This is probably caused by an air lock in your system.

If you bleed your radiators you should find the upstairs radiators will heat up.

If you look at the top side of your radiator, one end has a square bleed screw, a key can normally be obtained from a local hardware store. If this is carefully opened (hold an old towel underneath as the water is dirty) you should here air escape, this may take a minute or so to escape.

When the air is cleared you should find water starts to escape from the valve, do up the valve and repeate on all upstairs radiators.

You may find downstairs needs doing as well - this can cause the radiator to be either totally or partially cold
