My Chi would turn on, but flicker and stop working. I took it all apart and cleaned the inside of the swivel connection with some alcohol and a cotton swab. It works like new now!
It was a little tricky: I pried the side caps off with a flat head, then had to use a phillips on one side and a flat head on the other and turn both clockwise to undo the center screw. This was hard and I had to get gloves to get a good grip. I then positioned the two pieces so I could get to the screws on the bottom piece and I pulled it apart. I then pulled out the power cord from the swivel connection and cleaned all the metal connecting pieces with a cotton swab and alcohol. There were some that I couldn't fit the swab into so I used the flat head with a paper towel around it to clean those. It was actually fairly easy, I figured it out and did it in like 15 min. There was just some black gunk and dirt inside there keeping it from connecting well. It beat having to pay someone to fix it or buying a new one!
