how do I stop the water running straight through my machine?

The drain hose needs to be level with the top of the tub before going down to the drain position. The 2nd problem is fairly common on the Simpson Esprite. They have a timer problem & fitting a new timer should cure the problem but it is expensive.

Make sure that your outlet pipe is high up as the water inside might be syphoning out of the machine if the pipe is low down
