how do i reset it back to new?

when i put my compaq computer on it keeps saying NTLDR is missing how can i fix this

This could be because the hard drive is not being seen under cmos, can you go into cmos and check that the hard drive is visible on the cmos settings, and that the boot oredr is correct to boot from hard drive
