how to change fuel filter 1999 ford transit 2.5lt turbo diesel?

how do you remove the cannister, it has a plastic lock ring which seems to hold it in position, how does it release.

just done my filter but after filling new 1 up wi derv and refitting it wont start,it started and run until the filter was empty,how do i get the fuel through??????? thanks in advance

You have to twist the plastic bracket thing that holds the filter in place clockwise about half a turn and then the bracket comes free and so does the filter. It was well stiff though at first , had to really give it some welly.
