Mick, there are two tamper circuits one called tamp (which goes around the detectors) and one called SAB (which goes to the bellbox), it sounds like this is the problem.
either a wire is cut or damaged or the bell box tamper circuit is open/faulty. Has the battery been checked replaced in the last four years?
