astra speedo doesnt work and it keeps cutting out?

Help I have 2002 astra Speedo works on and off car cuts out when slowing down also light with the spanner comes on... the problems vary but seems to be all the time lost all faith in the car any advice appreciated

Check the 2 wires coming out of hub behind front passenger side wheel. If broken, reconnect using a standard connection block. The broken speedo might also cause the car to cut out at lights, roundabouts etc. I spent 400 quid trying to get this fixed but ended up fixing myself for 50p.

The speedo can be driven in a number of different ways, one being the standard old fashioned speedo cable, which can break. There is an electronic sensor which gets a signal from the cable and if the cable breaks - no signal to the computer. This often causes the car to stall at junctions.

The cable will need to be changed when everything should then be ok.
