I found that if I switch machine off at the plug socket immediately after making coffee, that it no longer leaks

I tried figuring out exactly where the leak in my machine was coming from and I determined it was from a little hole under the filter compartment. That little hole happened to be right underneath the flavor adjuster. Using a paperclip, I determined that the hole would open and close as you adjust the strength of coffee. I positioned the flavor adjuster on strong and my machine no longer leaks. I can't believe that after all this time the problem could have been solved by something so simple.

Mine leaked too and as with others I took the bottom off and checked the hoses, put teflon tape and new clamps. Still it leaked! Then ... I found the real problem. During the brewing process steam leaks through the back of the filter compartment into the compartment that holds the reservoir. The steam condenses into water and runs between the plastic removable reservoir and the compartment wall into the base of the compartment and out the drain in the corner. This explains why you can put 4 cups of water in and get 4 cups of coffee plus a bunch on the counter. It is a BAD design and should be fixed by Delonghi but I fixed it by putting some plastic adhesive on the joint around the top of the reservoir compartment.

Mine does too. I have contacted DeLonghi and they thought it might be the removable water reservoir. They sent out another one, but this has not fixed the problem. They suggested I bring the machine in for service, but my warranty is up, so I don't feel like spending $$ to have it looked at. So, I took it apart last night, ran it through a brewing cycle (ouch, that's hot!) and checked for the source of the leak. There are 2 different sets of tubes inside the machine, to get the water from the reservoir, through the heating element and up through the machine to the top of the filter. On one tube, they used metal clips (very tight). On the other tube, they used plastic tie wraps (cheaper, but not a tight seal). I added an extra tie wrap beside the existing ones, hoping this would fix the leak. No success. Solution: PUT A TEA TOWEL UNDER THE MACHINE.

Needless to say, I'll never buy another DeLonghi appliance.
