Mend Ge Bottom Side

GE side/side collects water at freezer bottom - no clogged line?

My GE side by side Profile was leaking water to the front from the freezer door. I had assumed the drain hole was clogged because of ice build up at the bottom of the freezer. Not the case - I can pour water through the drain and it reaches the pan fine. However, since the drain hole isn't exactly at the bottom of the freezer but a half an inch up on the back wall of the freezer, the water can't flow into the drain and forms ice below the drain causing defrosted water to flow out the front rather that intothe drain hole. Is this a design problem or am I possibly missing a part? I have raised the front of the freezer as high as possible to slope the hole back farther, but that isn't solving the problem.

Open freezer door, remove bottom drawer and look above the drain hole, higher, perhaps on the back wall of the freezer interior. There may be a gromet of sorts that has electrical wires that pass through. There should be a type of putty that seals the free-space around the wires up to the walls of the gromet. Make sure the putty seal is intack and that water running down during the thaw cycle doesn't find it's way through the gromet and ultimately on the floor under your fridge.
