Our laminate floor has been damaged by installing central heating. Can a new laminate or wood floor go straight down on top or is it better to take up the old flooring first?
your always better to take up old flooring when relaying new boards

Good practise would be to take the old floor up. That way you will avoid splitting levels (having the floors at different heights where they meet) where you finish the new flooring, but there isn't a definate reason why you can't as far as i know?
