Mend Fiat 1953 Door Latch Repair

how can I fix my Fiat Punto door?

I have a fiat punto 1953 model. The drivers side door wont shut peroperly. It appears that the catch in the door will not close down on the receiver on the bodywork of the car. The door simply will not catch so I am unable to dive the car as the door will not shut so I cannot drive it.
Can I repair the latch or do I need to fit a new one in the door.

i had been out driving in my car when i got home i got out whent to close the door it would not close the door has not been damaged it has not dropped if i hold it closed and try to lock the door it still wont stay closed it ia a 2006 fiat punto grande

Try spraying plus gas or wd40 into the lock assembly and operating the latch in the door open and closed with a screw driver a few times. Hope it works!
