Mend Zanussi ZSF4143 Door Open Cycle

How do I repair a broken door latch on Zanussi ZSF4143?

The door on the Zanussi ZSF4143 was popping open during a wash cycle. An attempt to clean the latch on the inside of the door resulted in the plastic grabbing part of the latch flipping/turning out of sight. The door now can't close because the plastic bit won't turn back so that it can catch on the loop. Also the handle on the outside now doesn't move. It is like a spring has popped inside.

make a hook and pull the latch back into the open possition or remove the screws from around the inside of the fascia panel and remove the fascia to get access to latch.sometimes they do need replacing in which case the fascia removal is the only option
