My renault megane keeps cutting out ,2001,1.4 16valve?

I,am driving along and then the engine just dies and engine stops , the car when driving dont feel like it has full power, it struggles to accelarate, but if you leave it about 30 seconds the engine will start and engine will idle as normal but when you try to drive of there is lack of power ,and if you come to a stop and the engine is still running the engine is idling ok ,and now the warm weather is ,the hotter it is out side the worse the engine performs,and its only been doing it for a few weeks now ,there are no warning lights coming on either ,can you help , any suggestion are wecome ,cheers mark.

I had the same problem with my renault, I contacted a renault specialist who said it could be the idle speed control valve. It was carboned up so had it replaced and is now working fine.

Hi all.

I had a Laguna that cut out with no warning. It'd happen after drawing up to traffic lights/roundabouts and stopping. After being into the dealer and them trying a few things.. it turned out to be the idle speed control valve, which on my ole' 1995 Laguna I 2.0 engine was located at front of the engine passenger side.
The replacement valve was about £100 and took me about 15mins to replace. Incidently prior to replacing this valve, I took it off and gave it a good clean. This solved the stalling for a couple of months then returned. After replacement, I never had problem again. Hope this helps as if you do give it a clean and it is better, then at least you can pin point the cause without too much additional cost.

Hi I have got the same problem with a Renault Meganne coupe 1.6 8 valve cuts out when revs keep dropping did you find out what the cause was have tried crank sender & plugs and cleaned throttle body to no avail

Same thing kept happening on my Renault Kangoo. Had it in the garage twice, they could not work it out. Had the AA come to have a look, he cleaned the 'crank sensor', took him ten mins. the van has been ok for 2k miles.
