renault megane 03 authentique 1.6 keeps cutting out while driving?
recently my renault megane 03 authentique 1.6 keeps cutting out while im driving.this has caused great worry as i am afraid of driving it.sometimes i can't get the car started once it cuts out.maybe this is coincidence but i have noticed that it has been cutting out while i am in second gear.could anyone give me any ideas to what this could be as i am preparing to take it to the garage. thankyou to all of you
Could be crankshaft position sensor. That would affect starting from cold too. If it's the C.P.S. it's only one bolt to change it.
Does it misfire at all? Could be coil.
Could be airlock in petrol tank, causing fuel starvation after a few miles.
Don't know about the 2nd gear bit - maybe coincidence, maybe not.
It's out of warranty so why not get a good independent Renault specialist to look at it.
