Mend Packard Bell Model Argo C

How can I fix my packard bell notebook model Argo C?

I have a packard bell notebook that is 2 yrs old and it has just died on me and i don't know what the problem might be. I have removed the battery and tried to turn it on with the lead but nothing happens. Is there anybody with any advice or had similar problem - will be much appreciated ! Thanks.

a new mains adapter is readily available (try e-bay)
and quite cheap. you must have the battery inserted even when on mains!!! if the screen has gone these cost about £60. personnaly i would leave to soak on mains (with battery) and see if it boots up. replacement batteries are expensive unless you can find a cheap used one. beyond that, motherboards etc, are too expensive, just junk it and sell the parts on e-bay. regards HTEETH

Hi there.
did anybody determine how to fix the Argo C if it is the pin on the DC Jack input that has been pushed in.
I have that exact problem and wondered how best to get this fixed.
Does anybody know where the replacement part could be sourced from, or indeed how best to tackle the repair?

Thank you in advance

These Laptops suffer from mainly 2 problems, The dc jack usually becomes loose due to forcing in the charger.
(The centre pin becomes dis-lodged)

Secondly the screen backlight dies within a year or 2 causing nothing to appear on the screen.

Both these problems are simple to repair and also cheap as many spares are easy to find on Ebay.

I dont know how you fix it but the exact same thing happened to me. 2 years old and it just gave up i brought it to computer shop and they reckon it needs a new motherboard costing about £200 + £80 for labour. I wonder is this a common with this computer and do we have any comeback??

Is the centre pin of the DC input jack loose at all?
If it is then this is an easy diagnosis and repair.
If the centre pin is not loose then problem solving will take longer, beginning with the external charger - is it still functioning?
Look inside the USB sockets and check that they appear to be ok.
