Mend Advent 5221 Battery Laptop Problem

battery problems on advent 5221?

My battery only lasts for about an hour if not less. When I take my lead out and the battery has gone my laptop goes off, and I then have to switch it off fully and re-start. Whats causing my problem and is there a solution ?
