Mend Liteon HD-A740GX Dvd Recorder Reading

liteon HD-A740GX no longer recognising disks to write too?

My dvd recorder has recently stoppped recognising and reading blank discs - someone has asked a similar question and was told to go to http://www.liteonit.eu/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=178
and download the relevant firmware.
This I have done and followed the instructions here

The 'boot' disk does not run

Any ideas?

I've just done this and it works fine. Using Nero, just copy the unzipped file directly onto the blank CD and burn it as a disc-at-once.
In my case the file name was LNPAG028.DA3 , which is the European firmware.

It didn't solve my problem of the drive not reading or writing to recordables - still looking for an answer.
