Mend Peugeot Speedfight 2 Electric Start

electric start?

my peugeot speedfight 2's electric start will not work. The kick works every time and the engine runs well, but the electric start won't work.When engine is on i hold the break and press the start button,it makes a clicking noise and the oil icon flashes on dash even though there is plenty of oil.brand new battery so it cant be that. Can anyone help?

I think you could have an earth fault - thats the negative battery connection to the bike chassis. However, if you don't think there is a problem here, then remove the starter motor from the engine and see if it spins when you press the start button. Make sure the motor is making a good connection to the engine itself though.
