For all practical purposes, I find that dissasembling the carburator (remember to count the # of turns on your adjustment screws - I.E. air/fuel mixture if equipped, idle, etc) and soaking all the jets and any parts with holes for gas flow in carb cleaner overnight. the next day take and blow your jets out with a air compressoer blow nozzle to ensure you remove anydebris and gum. If all else fails you can buy a rebuild kit although I found its much easier and much more reliable to just buy a new carburator which will give you years of reliability. also, its a great practice technique to install a fuel shut off valve in-line to the carb. when u store the engine for the season simply shut the valve off and run the engine untillthe carb is dry and stalls the engine ensuring you have no gas sitting in your carb.
