elite f9 code?

I've had a kenmore eliite for about two years. Recently, It stopped draining and was flashing an error code (I think F9 but I don't remember). After spending way too much time taking that back of the machine apart and ripping hoses off, I found that there is a drain filter easily located on the front of the washer, behind the kick plate that is under the front door.

If you remove the three screws that hold on the kick plate you'll easily be able to remove and clean the drain filter. You should try this before opening up the back of the washer.

Have some towels handy when you remove this filter because it will be full of water.

I believe that the f9 code...which I also have experienced is due to either a bad inlet valve or a clogged discharge hose. I dont' think that it is a bigger problem, but if you are inclined to do something ...probably the best thing is to take off the connections (water) and check for sediment etc and then take off the discharge hose....and look at the filter there too. fastest before calling the service person to do the same thing.
