Just to add, you said £69 call out for an engineer is fighter pilot wages........jsut to clarify this....
Your engineer has invest quiet alot of time & money to firstly train for his profession. Then he pays all manner of insurance, registration, vehical unsurance & tax, tooling, calibration fees on an ongoing basis. Not to mention, vat & tax that is taken from that fee too. Then he has to drive to your door, where most people expect him to have enough parts stock in his van to fix problems onsite (and you can be sure there is £10,000 worth or parts in his van for this purpose) in the hope that he will sell them at some point in the future.
He also takes on refresher training, product training all at his own cost (and cost of the days wages). So he can keep up to date with the products you wish to have serviced.
And when the shittt hits the fan, he is the only one standing that gets the blame, the bill or even sued when anything goes wrong.
I think £69 callout is a very reasonable cost to you when you consider what you pay when you drive your car into a garage to get it either serviced or repaired.....
And the final arrow, alot of the people here taking the trouble to give you FREE advice as you feel so capable of repairing your gas boiler ARE SERVICE ENGINEERS!
