How can I clear programmer on zanussi zwf1421 w washing machine?

My programmer appears to be stuck mid cycle and will not clear last used program despite turning off power

Zanussi Zanussi ZWF1421W Household Appliances, Washing Machines Clear Washing Machine

hold down start button and any other option button. holding down both buttons turn the program selector one turn to the right. continue to hold buttons till light begins to flash. power off and back on.
