my alarm on my 2002 renault trafic van keeps sounding when locked for no obvious reason. and it some times beeps when im driving. does any one know how to disable it please.
Thanks for the info. My '59 Renault master has had an alarm fault. Seems to go off in sunny weather, especially with some cloud so it is going cool, warm. cool as clouds pass.
Having read to entries so far I checked the door contacts. Door switch on the front doors press on a foam pad which had worn away. A gentle push on the driver's door made the alarm go off. I replaced the foam pad with a thick felt pad and that seems to have sorted it. The change in temperature as clouds passed must have made the air inside expand and contract enough to move the door.

My husband just unplugged his speaker to the alarm on our Renault trafic 2005 model. It's located near side behind the front bumper.
Remove the front light nearside and bumper you will see a what looks like a small megaphone shape tunnel. Just behind you will find a connector that you just pull apart. This stops the sound dead.

I give you this info from a reliable renault tech guy. I had the problem with false alarms and it sorted it for me. He told me that 99% of the time that the bonnet switch and the ultrasonic inside the cab were to blame! I disconnected both and now have peaceful nights sleep. The alarm still covers all doors in the event of intrusion. The ultrasonic moulding simply slides off and can be easily unplugged. This solution could save you hundreds at the main dealer. Give it a go, if it doesn't work simply reconnect and buy some ear plugs,.....

I've just sorted my vivaro. Open the left rear door and look in the bottom left corne of the door shut. There should be an alarm contact plunger. On the door opposite there's probably just a small hole where there should be a rubber bung to push in the contact switch. Hold in the switch by hand and the alarm will work normal. 2 flashes then 5 for dead locking. Just jam a piece of rubber in the hole to push the switch and your all sorted.

On one of my trafics i found that the push nipple on the passenger side under the rubber cover had slip inside of the hole on one of the three locators only a little but enough to stop the alarm from setting and to continuously beep whilst driving with no warnings on the dashboard

its within the wheel arch not above it, you have to remove the wheel then the plastic covers.

Hi, iv been having problems with the alarm too. Completely overlooked the bonnet and thought it was the side doors as iv had problems with that in the past.
Locked the van up and then tried each door in turn plus the petrol cap, it was only when I tried the bonnet that the alarm went off. Took one finger lifting it to start it going. Even a bit of a breeze has been setting it off. Have put some cardboard over the depression sensor and this seems to have stopped it. Hoping that's it sorted so I can get some rest.

Started happening on my 58 plate sport, went off at around 2am & 2.30am the other night and at 3am 3.20am & 6am last night. Have to have a look see if its simple to fix or renault can sort it think its still got warranty? Not very good though for a 58 reg with 20k on clock.

hi
i have a 60 plate trafic sport phase 3,now has 2000 miles on it.my alarm over the last 3 nights has been going off.i armed it with the ultrasonics switched off.to do this hold button down when arming .the van has been ok with the ultrasonics switched off, however when i now arming the van and it is bleeping,i have checked out a few things and found out that the ultrasonics are not working.have took the plate down from the roof ware the ultrasonics are, and found that water has gone on to the board and caused it not to work.i would guess that the water is condensation off the metal roof.i think this is a pour design something needs to cover the circuit board.hopefully this may help other people with alarm problems.

I had the same problem and found it to be the side door. Rub the terminals on the door plate (3 silver squares) and on the door (3 springy switches) with a piece of sandpaper or wire wool to clear off any dirt or oxidizing thats built up and hey presto......no more false alarms. Finally a simple cheap fix for a Renault!!!!

Quite often it is the switch on the sliding door that causes the alarm to trigger. Shutting the side loading door firmly may stop this from happening. Also the ultrasonic sensors in the cab can be over sensitive. These parts are available seperatly from your local Renault dealer and are quite an easy fit.

I found in the end it seems to be the siren, after disconecting all parts one at a time and leaving in the sun and wind. i unbolted the siren, cleaned the parts, bolt holes and plug and the reassembled all items and (touching wood) all seems to be ok. All i can say is try it, it wasnt difficault.

I have the same problem on my 53 plate, usually when the sun is out and the wind is blowing, There is a black metal casing where the header tank is bolted on, i think the alarm unit is inside this but i am not sure how you get it out from inside it.

I dont know but I am experiencing the same problem with my trafic. The local dealer says it is located above the right hand wheel arch as you look into the engine and it sounds about right but I cannot see it. I was told it may have a back up battery unit as well so it will kick in if you do find it and unplug it. I was quoted £38.50 for them to rig up to computer and diagnose it. If you disable it it may affect your insurance. I will keep looking here to see if anyone has more idea than me.
