Simon, if the battery is 7 years old its almost certainly flat and the probable cause, its up to you if you leave the mains on if your unsure take it off make sure you get the red and black leads to the correct terminals on the battery. I would avoid getting a 1.2ah battery they don't last long ideally get the biggest that will fit in there.

No, the battery has not been changed. Yes, there is mains power to the panel. Do you suggest I change the battery? If so, do I leave mains power on whilst changing the battery? Thanks.
