LEAKING OIL ON DANFOSS PUMP?

We have an intermittant leak on our pump on our worcestor heatslave combi. The pump unit is Bentone Danfoss type BFP41L3.

Does anyone know if there is a repair kit or does it mean a new pump unit.
If i replace the pump unit, will it need setting or just bolt on?

We have had no problems with unit at all, now 7 years old. We hadnt had it serviced for a few years , so had it done after christmas, now the thing leaks. Not entirely sure if conicidence or not, but not having same guy out again. Any help greatly appreciated.

im on my second pump in 11 years, i've had it serviced
every 12 months, any suggestions on where & how much for a pump??, we have 3 oil heatslave & 1 glowwarm gas, never again will i buy a worcester oil boiler.... no way,

You should have the pump replaced and pressure set correctly to manufacturers specification. Work should be carried out by an OFTEC registered technician. You should really have the boiler serviced annually to maintain the safety and efficiency of the installation.

oil boiler engineer here with 50 yrs experience. there is a shaft seal kit available for the danfos rb range of oil pumps is abt 20.00 but you must remember that the pump is a gear pump and , if u have ever run out of oil you may have sererly damaged the gear drive or the shear pin within the pump itself so you could be wasting money on a new seal kit.

I have exactly the same problem on exactly the same model boiler of the same age!
After having the pump to bits several times, I have found that the problem is a small seal that sits on the drive spindle and is held in place by a spring in between it and the body of the pump. I am currently trying to find out if this is available or whether the pump will have to be replaced for the sake of one tiny piece.

Sounds like the seal (o-ring) may be gone, should be able to pick one up at your local heatmerchants.....

And to be honest, if you hadn't got it serviced in 7 years, you can hardly blame the service engineer!!! In my experience, if these things are left sit to there own devices for so long, disturbing them may result in problems......hence your service interval should be every 12 months as your manufacturer recommends.

If you ignored your car service for 7 years and then had problems after you eventually decided to give it a service you could hardly blame the garage!

And to be fair to your service engineer, have you even let him know?
