mags ?

Merc E 240 y reg.Changed filter in gear box and it has solved my problem.Now im leaking fluid cant see no leaks only a long trail off oil when driving.I bought a dip stick and i think i have to much oil in it.Is this normal to pump out fluid if theres to much in it.or have i got a leak ? should i drain out oil thanks
