Mend Brother XL-2130 Sewing Fabric

Shuttle on a brother XL-2130 jamming?

My wife was sewing some heavy fabric and her machine jammed. I replaced the needle and now the top thread jams between the shuttle and the spring (near the front of the casing). Any ideas?
